I need your help!

Thu May 15, 2008, 3:58 PM
  • Mood: Grouchy
  • Reading: Quantum Reality (still! It's a hard book)
I've been debating this for a little while, and I figured I would put this out here and ask.

Have you ever had one of those stories that you think about all the time, and you continue the story in your head, but you don't write it down? The kind where every time you return to that story, you start in a different spot and have a different outcome? I have one of those.

It's centered around a man/tree spirit named Myrth, and a world parallel to our own, yet close enough to jump the gap if you gather enough power. I've had so many ending, middles, and even beginnings for this story, with everything possible happening. This character has been a dear friend of mine for months and months, since about last December.

My question is: should I write this story down and submit it?

I'm not sure whether or not to write it, because if I solidify it, I'm afraid that I'll remove all the sanctity out of this character that I love so much, and remove all of his possibilities of action. All the characters that have existed in my mind will have to be picked through, and I'd have to decide which matches with the storyline and which doesn't.

Or I could write kind of like a series....maybe. Something like where Myrth is the main character, and in different stories, there are different characters? I don't know.

I need other people's opinions! I'm too close to this issue to decide on my own.
